Unspoilt, coastal walk around Hawker Country
3 miles approx, circular walk
Coastal
Cafe & Toilets
On this walk we follow in the footsteps of Rev. Robert Hawker who was vicar at Morwenstow from 1834. He was a very eccentric, compassionate man who, on the death of his first wife, found solace in opium which he said enhanced his creative writing.
Famed for penning the ‘Cornish anthem’, Trelawney, for his compassion to every shipwreck victim, and for establishing harvest festival as we know it, this man’s story continues to prove fascinating.
Follow us as we discover more in ‘Hawker country’.

Our favourite bit of the walk is...
...discovering Hawker's hut, set in the cliffside, with exquisite views of the north Cornish coast!
