In 1782 John Knill built an obelisk on a hill behind Tregenna Castle Hotel. It was intended to be his final resting place but, alas, he went to London and never fulfilled his wish. However, in his will, he bequeathed a sum to St Ives to celebrate his life and the festival continues to this day.
In this walk, we seek the monument. Starting at St Nicholas Chapel on the Island in St Ives, picking up the South West Coast Path, we ascend from sea level about 520 feet to Knills Monument, returning via Stennack.

Our favourite bit of the walk is...
..feeling exhilarated after climbing to the monument, being rewarded with 360 degree views of Cornwall.
