Kynance Cove, Cornwall

Kynance Cove

With its white sand and stunning rock formations, Kynance Cove has been considered one of Cornwall's, if not the UK's, best beaches, winning a top 10 place in many surveys. 


The cove is owned and managed by the National Trust. It is immensely popular and becomes extremely busy in  peak season. 

What is this beach like?

There are serpentine pebbles at the entrance to the beach and sand beyond. It is not suitable for surfing because there is lots of rocky outcrops but, when the sea is calm, it is great for paddling, swimming, rockpooling and paddle boarding.  


Be aware of tide times becasue parts of the beach will become cut off as the tiode come in. This beach is not lifeguarded.


There is seasonal dog restrictions

Amenties and access

Kynance has a large car park that is run by the National Trust, charges apply all year. It is about 1/4 of a mile from the cove which is accessed by either a steep pathway or more gradual but longer gravel track.. The Trust provides details of tide times in the car park. There are toilets in the car park and at the cove. There is also a cafe at the cove.


Wheelchair/Pushchair access is catered for. There is an accessible veiwing area and separate gravel track to the cove. It has pebbles near the entrance.

Did you know...

...it has attracted artists, poets, and travelogue writers for centuries. The Victorians gave names to the rocks and caves on the beach, some of which continue today.
