Porthcurno

Porthcurno is a cove situated on the south coast of the Penwith Peninsula, beyond Penzance. It is famous for its golden sand and turquoise water making it one of Cornwall's most visited beaches.


The Minack Theatre is set on the clifftop nearby and the Telegraph Museum is situated within the valley.

What is this beach like?

Porthcurno is a large sandy beach suitable for family beach days. It is seasonally lifeguarded. Porthcurno was used as Nampara in the 2015 production of Poldark. From here it is possible to walk the South West Coast Path to Penberth, another Poldark filming location, Sawle village.

Amenties and access

Porthcurno has a large car park, parking charges apply. There are toilets in the car park, charges apply, and a couple of cafes in the cove. 


The beach is accessed via a gravel track and steep steps near the beach. It has deep, dry sand near the entrance.
