Situated near Hayle, Gwithian offers great opportunites for surfing and other water sports. The coastline in this area  is stunningly beautiful to walk all year, with towans to explore and Godrevy lighthouse sitting dramtically just off shore. 

What is this beach like?

Gwithian is a large, expansive, sandy beach. It is deal for families and excellent for surfing. It also has sand dunes to explore. 

Amenties and access

There is a large National Trust car park that is open 365 with a cafe, and an overflow car park that opens in peak season near Godrevy Lighthouse, charges apply in both car parks. There are toilets in both parking areas. 


There is several access points to the beach area. All of them involve either steps, rocks/large pebbles or steep sand dunes.

Did you know...

...that Godrevy Lighthouse was built in 1859 after  several shipwrecks provoked a local outcry to protect shipping?
