Porthcothan is a deep sandy cove on the north coast of Cornwall, It is good for surfing and the sand makes excellent sandcastles. Flanked by dunes and with a gentle river meandering through it, the beach is ideal for family beach days,

What is the beach like?
Porthcothan is a deep cove and has a very long beach at low tide. It has a saesonal lifeguard. The sand is gold and perfect for sandcastles. It is a great place for surfing and there are surfing schools in the cove.
Amenties and access
Porthcothan has one small car park, and it fills up very quickly. There are public toilets in the car park and a small but excellently stocked beach cafe offering drinks, snacks and pasties.
