
Launceston
Launceston has been an important town throughout Cornish history with a castle and gaol, now a tourist attraction, within the town. On the border with Devon, it is the gateway to Cornwall.

The town has a lively high street offering pubs, cafes and bakeries.
Beaches
Although Launceston is not a coastal town, Bude with its enormous beach is about 30 minutes away.
Things to Do
Launceston has a Norman motte and bailey castle which is open to the public. The gaol is also within the grounds of the castle. The church has a fascinating history, particularly about how the exterior became so decorated, There is a heritage railway nearby, and Launceston gives easy access to both Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor.
It also hosts a fabulous Christmas Tree display in the church.
